A celebration of the journey which being a Kaur is about. Literally ‘Kaur’ translates to “Princess”.
After the cruelty imposed by Mughal rule, people were treated with extreme discrimination. Guru Sahib implemented the title of “Kaur” and “Singh” to every Sikh in an effort to remove discrimination from the caste system. Every man a lion (“Singh”) and every woman was a “princess”.
This piece celebrates the importance that Identity brings into a person’s life. It’s a journey of cultural empowerment, self-esteem and self-worth.
