When I was young I didn’t see a lot of people from my colour or culture on the big screen.
We didn’t see brown models flaunting billboards or covers of magazines.
The world embraced people of colour, rather slowly.
So when it was time for me to create art, the child in me still wanted to see something “familiar”. Something she could look up to. Something she could cherish. The child in me wanted to feel “valued”. 

And so it was.. I create for that child. I create for my niece.
I create for all the children who I hope will grow up feeling differently.
I create because Representation matters
