As a child, I remember waking up to the sound of an old Mithi Ji (Sweet) voice in the wee mornings of my summer holidays. My mother would have this Shabad (Spiritual song) on in full volume. It would echo melodiously in the cocoon of our home.
And I remember imagining a picture in my head:
One of sweet darshan. A devotee in the arms of his Teacher, Mentor, Friend...Guru. The sweet and glorious pining of a disciple for his master. That’s how I imagined a melodious dream to the voice of Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji.
This is what great voices, great music is capable of. It ripples through time in various symphonies...reincarnating itself amongst countless people and forms of expression.
This is the power in Gurbani.
This is true immortality.
Darshan means to “MEET”. This artwork aims to explore the sweet pining of
a devotee for their Guru.
